True. The text that an IP inserted in January, first in German [1] and then in English [2] is a different adaptation of the Marseillaise, by Ferdinand Freiligrath from 1849. The edit to the German text was quickly reverted but the English one remained, hence the discrepancy. This article [3] has a bit of background on both the Freiligrath and the Audorf text. Was Freiligrath's version also referred to as Arbeiter Marseillaise?
A recent bio of German Communist August Willich reports that he had his troops sing Arbeiter-Marseillaise during the U.S. Civil War, including before the battle of Shiloh, which could not be Audorf's version if it was written in 64. Chilltherevolutionist (talk) 06:16, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
