Dick Teresi seems to have written plenty of articles - just punch his name into a Google or Yahoo search. Two notable articles are one in the Atlantic which I wrote in this article, and now another in the New York Times Books section. Here is the link for the NY times article

http://www.nytimes.com/1994/06/05/books/high-concept-classics-a-quiz.html. That particular article he wrote with his wife Judith Hooper. The NY Times article is humorous, and I mention this because it is humorous in the same way that the book he co-wrote with Dr. Leon Lederman (The God Particle) is humorous. So now I am wondering, whose sense of humor came through in the book - Teresi's or Lederman's? Lederman is known for his wit. Apparently Teresi has a sense of humor as well. So I guess it is a collaborative wit.

The problem I am having is finding biographical facts about Dick Teresi. He has written a lot including some books. But I have so far not discovered many biographical facts. Ti-30X (talk) 03:41, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The review of Lost Discoveries in Nature 298 (6 Dec 2002): 1895-6 is absolutely scathing. Near the beginning the reviewer says Teresi's "enthusiasms have led him to craft a misleading, indeed pernicious, account of those [nonwestern] cultures and their connections to the modern scientific enterprise." Specifying his particular failings, he notes: "Teresi falls back on two implicit arguments: a Whiggish one (which uses our current standards to judge the past) and a general put-down of Europe.... The author’s Whiggism leads him to see non-Western cultures, not in their own terms, but as 'mirroring,' 'presaging,' 'hinting at,' 'bearing out,' 'paving the way for,' 'evidencing nascent understandings of,' and 'being the forerunner of' today’s science. This malady is sometimes diagnosed as 'precursoritis,' and every graduate student knows that ... is not the way—certainly not the best way—to tell the story of what people have thought about nature in other historical contexts."

I have commenced a tidy-up of the Bibliography section using cite templates. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. ISBNs and other persistent identifiers, where available, are commented out, but still available for reference. This is a work in progress; feel free to continue.
