Section[edit]

Dienogest was first marketed (together with higher amount of EE as in Valette) as "Certostat". The patent on Dienogest by Jenapharm ended in 2011, so it must have been first marketed in GDR in 1981. Since this year, some generic drugs are available (with some slight differences in the composition of excipients); the first of them which was merchandised is exactly the same as Valette under the name of "Maxim" by Jenapharm itself. 87.176.236.227 (talk) 18:26, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dieonogest is not a contraceptive. Although ovulation may be affected, if you wish to prevent pregnancy while taking Dienogest, you need to use a barrier method of contraception. ^[1]

Valette or Visanne[edit]

Hi, I'm looking into Dienogest for my own purposes and I think there's an error, but I'm not sure enough to edit the article (I have no medical training). In this bit:

 Dienogest is available both alone and in combination with estrogens.[13][11] The following   formulations are available:[13][11]

 Dienogest 1 mg oral tablets (Dinagest) and 2 mg oral tablets (Valette) – indicated for endometriosis

I think that the 2mg oral tablets should be Visanne, not Valette. It fits with text elsewhere in the article and Valette is combined Ethinyloestradiol and Dienogest.
