Seven studios?[edit]

The DCI web site states only six:

"Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC (DCI) was created in March, 2002, and is a joint venture of Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal and Warner Bros. Studios."[1] Earthsound (talk) 20:01, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DCI originally 7 studios, then 6, now 5[edit]

DCI started in March 2002 with seven majors: MGM, Paramount, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Universal Studios, The Walt Disney Co. & Warner Bros. Then MGM withdrew in May 2005, leaving the other six studios. In March 2019, Fox withdrew from DCI as a consequence of its merger with Disney.

Lack of Consistency[edit]

Serious failure of organizations like Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers to establish uniform standards for 4K - the 2007 standard, 3840 × 2160 (4K UHD), is dominant for devices as of late 2018.
