Where does this hierarchical order come from? Water boards operate in parallel to municipalities and provinces with a division between them in the scope. They have more autonomy than provinces and municipalities usually have. such as full control over their income, through taxation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.12.236.121 (talk) 00:49, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Would this be a good reference http://www.mfa.nl/pvgeneve/about_the/government#157092 for the levels of government named? CDijkgraaf (talk) 22:18, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dead link[edit]

The second reference (to 'Water Canon') is now a dead link, as the site has apparently been auctioned off to the highest bidder (!).109.164.202.2 (talk) 20:21, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Deichgraf[edit]

In Germany offical persons working as dike-warden are called "Deichgraf" or "Deichgräf" at the lower Rhine. This is the direkt expression for the dutch "Dijkgraaf". They are the head of a local cooperative involed in coastal management or in river levee management. These cooparatives are founded by the muncipalities which are adjacent to the coast or the river. 2003:C3:771B:AD27:42AC:ADAB:ADE3:7D94 (talk) 20:14, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
