Diluvium is an OBSOLETE geological term that was discarded by geologists over 70 years ago because of its specific reference to, and implication of, a global biblical flood. Deluvial vs diluvial The redirection from deluvial to diluvial is incorrect. Though deluvial is mostly used in non-English-speaking countries, it has a clearly different meaning from diluvial, namely being related to areal slope denudation processes (deluvial soils or sediments e.g.).
