Clarification needed

I started this article because I think the redirect to dinitrophenol was misleading - they are two distinct topics. But I don't have high confidence in some of the content I added from the NCI Drug Dictionary. Is the dinitrophenyl hapten really a molecule with two phenol groups as stated at the NCI link? That doesn't seem to agree with standard nomenclature. Also, is it really a distinct chemical compound and not just the functional group (NO₂)₂C₆H₃- substituted onto something else?
