Why is this notable?[edit]

People disappear all the time like this. What makes this case a valuable addition to Wikipedia? I'm surprised it wasn't nominated for deletion. 50.111.25.178 (talk) 18:03, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That's a valid point. I was personally curious as to why the article uses American English (and American categories) instead of Australian - if an American disappeared in the UK, would we use British English on that article? It's a moot point apparently, as most (if not all) of the "disappearance of..." or articles at Category:Missing Person Cases seem to be about (for example) Brits missing in Britain, or Australians missing in Australia. Certainly Kreimer is not the only expat to go missing in another country? (The whole subject on WP is very biased towards inclusion of westerners, fwiw). As far as notability, it seems most (if not all) of the similar articles have something besides description in RS to establish notability - ie, the person's disappearance helped inspire some kind of national legislation/organization, documentary film, or was blamed on a UFO abduction, etc. That extra ounce of notability seems to be lacking in this article. If you'd like to nominate for deletion please feel free; however, it also seems possible that further research could yield something that would justify keeping this page alive. Gosh, I never knew folks regularly disappeared on the way to the bathroom. As I have noted that prior articles on the subject of disappearances often feature unusual circumstances, I thought Asha Kreimer's actions were unusual enough to be notable. Not that I have been able to locate any written consensus on what constitutes a notable disappearance.Georgejdorner (talk) 16:22, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote this article in American usage because I am an American. And it did occur in America. However, I really don't mind if some erudite Aussie changes the usage to Australian terms. Please, just also change the language template atop the Talk page to maintain a common usage.Georgejdorner (talk) 06:40, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
