This is a strange article, since most people would talk about digital computers versus analog computers. does this even need to be here? - 18:15, 26 May 2006

Original research[edit]

"Discrete computer" and "continuous computer" appear to be invented terms for digital computer and analog computer. Google search pretty much confirms it. [1][2] GregorB 11:43, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that this is original research or more accurately a contrived and tortured term. The concept of a so-called discrete computer is fully synonymous with digital computer. The concept of a so-called continuous computer is fully synonymous with an analog computer. Digital computer and analog computer are the correct electrical-engineering terms as used in the USA's Department of Defense industrial practice. I will be dismantling this article and merging it into computer. Unfortunately, there is no digital computer article, as it simply redirects to computer. Also, computer has no strong treatment of the comparison and contrasting of analog and digital computers. The treatment of computer is almost entirely focused on digital computer's would-be content, so computer needs a little help before rechristening this to simply be a redirect to computer. —optikos 02:51, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not too technical[edit]

The problem with this article is that it is not technical enough! As soon as the proper amount of intellectual wherewithall is added, it is obvious that this topic does not stand separately from digital computer. Unless someone can itemize specifically what is supposedly too technical, then I propose removing this { { technical } } demerit. —optikos 02:54, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Removing tag now. Guy Macon (talk) 02:20, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Clarification: there is no article. Bad redirect fooled me. See below. Guy Macon (talk) 02:35, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect error?[edit]

I was going through the backlog of articles tagged as being too technical, and removed the tag from this talk page, but when I double-checked the result I ended up on another talk page. It appears that Discrete computer was deleted and redirected to Computer, but Talk:Discrete computer was left in place with no pages linking to it. I am going to WP:PROD it.
