Controversy over the translation of this article (from English to Spanish)[edit]

Hello. I'm using "anónmo" of Wikipedia, which, I take the computer for entertainment (as most do). In this article, there is a problem which is that I came to Wikipedia in Spanish translate English to Spanish list of TV channels is in the article, the trouble is opposed, you know, as I devoted my life to the table, and in less than a minute, I erased it by a sincere reasons, which are:

  • Wikipedia is not a guide to pay-TV channels
  • According to the list is described as "advertising", which is considered as "not encyclopedic"

What do I take the conclusion? Wikipedians who have accounts in Wikipedia in Spanish, they are right, that when released since the article in Spanish, put these terms of editing. To be compliant, improving in this article clears the list of TV channels and is the text only and is Wikiedia in Spanish, and gave the reasons you think. --187.132.10.249 (talk) 00:14, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can barely understand what you are saying. From what I understand you're saying that we should remove the list from this article because it is considered as an advertisement in Spanish wiki. I hope you know Spanish and English wikipedias have different rules. What maybe be considered a notable article here isnt notable over there, what is considered spam here isnt over there, and vice versa. There are plenty of lists on en.wiki, google: list of channels wiki and you'll see how many satellite company cable channel lists there are on English wiki and other languages for that matter. Lists allowed on this wiki because they are informative not spam since there are no prices on them and we arent comparing channel lineups from other companies.
—AMAPO (talk) 05:38, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Possible deletion of this article[edit]

Per discussions at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of AT&T U-verse channels and at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Discussion about channel lineups in general, this article is possibly also subject to deletion under a similar rationale. Just so ya know. --Chaswmsday (talk) 18:01, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nom. "Mexico" is the country, and dishmexico.com also uses "Dish Mexico."
  • Oppose per discussion. -- Wikipedical (talk) 18:19, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes but this website you have found http://www.dishmexico.com/ has nothing to do with the company and website in the article, it's a US-based reseller DISH Network L.L.C. which does not own the Mexican company which is the subject of the article, as the article says

Note that Dish México is not owned in any part by the U.S. company DISH Network

Please check the article and look again at the sources used. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:04, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, retain accurate name - seems like an IP went through the article removing all Spanish accents prior to db-g6 uncontroversial move request. The IP even broke the interwiki to es:Dish México in its enthusiasm for Americanizing a Mexican company in Mexico. The name of the company is Dish México see Expansión Volume 40 2009 Page 18 "DISH México - La competencia en televisión satelital llegará a la Ciudad de México en las próximas semanas cuando Dish México inicie operaciones en el mayor mercado del país." • Support "Dish México" is a satellite programming package offered by "Dish Mexico" as evidenced by their own English-language website, since this is English Wikipedia and not Spanish Wikipedia, and they have an English language website as well as a Spanish one, we should be able to tell apart the name in English and the name in Spanish. (further dishmexico.mx is a different company) -- 70.24.250.26 (talk) 12:52, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What English website? Wikipedical found a US reseller, but http://www.dish.com.mx/ is the website in the article. The website is entirely in Spanish, and there is no English package. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:00, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Anon 70.24.250.26, you're a bit confused, Dish Mexico is a package on the "Dish USA" system, but this article is about the Dish México system providing service in Mexico.-AMAPO (talk) 02:11, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Official Dish México webpage, refers to itself as "Dish México". See small print at the bottom, "Comercializadora de Frecuencias Satelitales, S. de R.L. de C.V., Dish México, S. de R. L. de C.V." -AMAPO (talk) 02:11, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose; keep it at the more accurate name. A redirect from Dish Mexico is fine. bobrayner (talk) 14:38, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
