Ans: Disha herself is celebrating her birthday on 13 June in the video!
Ans: 1996 means she was 15 at the time of entering Miss Indore and studying in a university for Bachelors! In her Aug, 2012 video she mentions studying BTech in Lucknow University.

Its common sense that her birthday is confirmed as 1992 or maybe 1990-91. A university student in 19-22 years old!

Miss India Indore 2013 was taken place in 2012! If she was 19 when she was selected that makes it 1992. The selection is done in spring-summer and her birthday was in June.

  • (edit conflict) Hi Managerarc, one possibility would be to present the information as unclear. Note the article on Charo, for instance, which presents the factual disparity in lead. While we can sometimes use a primary source, we don't know that her "thanks" video was made on the same day as her birthday. Some people thank folks the next day, or after the weekend... It's possible, but it's not explicit and thus, requires our interpretation, which is problematic. Also the age disparity might not be a mistake. Some people lie about their ages. Cyphoidbomb/Managerarc, You have certainly proved your reliability!. Anyways I really feel sad for you. Clearly you have put great effort in hiding Disha Patani birth year for months now. Kudos to Wikipedia to let uneducated imbeciles do as they please. I found Disha Patani Lucknow University record that states her dob as 1990 as per her Identity card!!! Now this will give you a heart attack as you don't want to reveal her even as 24 yrs old! Her dob of 1992 is available on all Indian sites but don't worry as Disha Patani's 5 mins role in her only movie has failed and her career as an actor is over! Nobody will visit this page anyways nor anyone will care which year some "nobody" was born. She has been caught in media for lying about her age and changing her surname from PATNI to Patani.

39.59.92.73, neither Managerarc nor myself have any emotions invested in this person's age situation. I mean, you're lobbing insults at her and her career as if we're supposed to give a crap and take it personally. It's laughably ridiculous. Moving past this distraction, there is a good possibility that the actress is fudging her age--it's certainly common. The problem is you've brought no reliable sources that say definitively what her birthdate is.
The only two sources I'd consider from that list are Times of India and Mid-Day. Neither of those says that she is lying, only that she is rumored to be lying. Wikipedia is not a rumor mill and all content about living people must be impeccably sourced. It's certainly nothing to get irritated about or to take personally. We've opted to avoid publishing the disputed information so that we are neither complicit in a possible deception nor potentially doing harm to her career.
When you can find sources that meet our reliable sources guidelines (i.e. no blogs), and that have independently confirmed her real birthdate, then and only then can we include the data. Adding a wall of poor references doesn't get us any closer. If you'd like another opinion, you're welcome to ask other editors at the BLP Noticeboard what they think, which should dispel any paranoid fantasy that we are hiding the truth. @Navneetiitv: If the subject's verified social media outlets posted a birthdate, that might be something we could consider, but we run the risk of becoming shills for a subject's promotional team if we were to blindly regurgitate what they publish as indisputable fact. If there is a discrepancy among reliable sources, or in this case, if reliable sources are saying specifically that something is fishy, then it would seem that being circumspect and presenting the range of information on the matter would be the correct approach as we've done in this article. Let's not forget that it is quite common for actors to manipulate their ages so that they seem younger for longer. Hi Jack, I know about Zee, but there's a clear discrepancy as supported by Times of India and Mid-Day, both of which are also generally reliable. Birthday[edit]

@Cyphoidbomb: While I've restored the original birthdate values [1] as per the status quo, the instagram post by Ayesha Dutt (verified account) in this source has a date of "13 June" 2020. Looks like the DD and MM are believable, unless she is making it up all since the this one mentions 27 July. I'm not going to the year part. I honestly don't know what the correct thing to do here is. On the one hand it would seem likely that if the press is reporting that her DOB is 1992 (making her older) and noting that her mother-in-law or whomever is wishing her a happy day, that would be more consistent with what is likely to be accurate. Maybe she misrepresented her DOB once and now is backpedaling? I will say that it's weird to change the day and month. Most people just fudge the year. As for waiting for her to announce her birthdate, I'm not even sure that is allowed, since she is a primary source. I asked about that here, but alas, nobody answered... @Fylindfotberserk: I noticed the restoration of the age controversies category and I wonder if there should be prose that explains the discrepancy, since the infobox is supposed to summarise content found elsewhere. Do you think you might be willing to write something up? Something along the lines of "Different birthdates have been published for Patani. Source 1 says A, Source 2 says B. So-and-so source noted that she stated her age at ___ in YYYY." This is not very well constructed, I'm just kind of going off what my memory is of the sources. @Cyphoidbomb: I don't think I'll be expanding something like that in the article, atleast not now. As for the CAT, yesterday I came across this, obviously many IPs previously tried to change Rawal's birthday. Now instead of outright reverting it, I checked the cat page and found a lot of entries, from Kangana Ranaut to Katrina Kaif, included, so I added this one which IMO is far more suitable there. This ref] from Republic TV supports the 6-13-1992 date. This ref from The Statesman (India) supports the 6-13 month/day, though it doesn't mention a year. This one from International Business Times also says June 13, 1992. OhNoitsJamie Talk 02:51, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Birth year again[edit]

@Ab207, Sush150, DaxServer, and Tayi Arajakate: Hi, it is regarding the removal of the 'other birth date' (27 July 1995) in the current version as compared to version I came across before my hiatus [2]. The other birth date is supported by the source [3]. I don't see any consensus on its removal in the talk page here. I haven't really been following this page. I did take a look now though, the cited source which is from 2017 states that she had claimed that her date of birth is 27 July 1995. So it's probably fair to say that at least that part is outdated since in 2021, she is publicly celebrating her birthday on 13 June. I couldn't find any recent sources for 27 July. The cited source also says that her date of birth might be 13 June 1992.
Going by recent coverage, her birthday seems to be unambiguously considered to be on 13 June but it's unclear if the year is 1992 or 1993. I found two sources about her 2021 birthday which have updated the article and likely changed her age from 29 to 28. [4] and [5], both are updated articles, retain picture captions with the year 29 but state in text that she became 28. The second link which is from The Indian Express doesn't directly state that but qualifies it as being derived from photos with "balloons saying 28".
But there is another updated article [6] which also qualifies it and states that she "blows out 29 candles on her birthday cake". All other sources that I found, regardless of whether they are updated or not, either directly state she turned 28 or that she turned 29. If you ask me, I don't know what to make of this, no source mentions both years and/or tries to clarify anything about her birth year or age. Tayi Arajakate Talk 15:09, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OhNoitsJamie, sorry if the poor formatting of my comment gave the wrong impression. There is only one article (2nd link) from The Indian Express and it says 28 in a qualified sentence. The first link is from India Today which unambigiously says she turned 28. Both of those link however have a picture caption/sub-heading which says 29. Note that sub-headings, pictures, etc are like WP:HEADLINES and won't have editorial oversight. It's likely that they initially reported 29 and then changed it to 28. Hi everyone! Many weeks ago (maybe in june), I digged down in article history to see from where the confusion of birth year started. I found that before any reliable sources appeared there was continuous changes in birth year (92/93). I remember I found one IP edit with summary like "I know her personally, her birth year is 1993". So I would assume this is good faith IP and info provided by that is true. But still after that birth year was continuously being changed. The first reliable source that appeared were from TOI and mid-day in 2017 which also gave her year as 1995 and said that she is lying and her real birth year is 1992 as seen in video (But in reality there was no such video in that article). Other than that I found this archive from november 2012 which says her age as 19, which implies birth year as 93.
So, to support 1993 we have that archive and a good faith IP edit. To support 1992 we have some sources which do not give any proof and have probably picked wrong year from wikipedia. As for 1995 year, I assume (yes, its original research) that she was referring to birthday of her sister khushboo patani and was misunderstood that time as she has never said that again. Orphaned references in Disha Patani[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Disha Patani's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
