This article is a little weird, it's about "doe"s but it focuses almost solely on the ISP/poster cases. The whole "Doe" defendant is a broad topic and legal tool, pre-dating the internet. There should be more general discussion. What are the parameters or limitations on citing a doe defendant? How about we mention that "Roe" in "Roe v. Wade" is also a fake name.

I was doing paralegal class homework and that led me here, but the article wasn't really helpful, and doesn't even contain the base knowledge it should be conveying. -EdwinAmi


OK, doing more research, I found the "fictitious defendant" article. Then realized that THIS article is for doe SUBPOENAs. Oh! Still, perhaps the two articles should be merged. And it's still a little weird that this article only talks about internet cases.
