Page rewritten - needs new title[edit]

Ghana never had the status of "Dominion", which was a status within the British Empire that ceased to exist on 1 January 1949. Ghana remained "within Her Majesty's dominions" after independence (according to the Ghana Independence Act), but the sources cited below are not correct. I have rewritten the page to be accurate, but it needs a new title or, preferably, should be moved to a new entry on the constitutional history of Ghana.

I have left the list of external sources, but they should probably be deleted - or the original author could make them citations for the relevant information. Africa annotator (talk) 16:41, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

there are plenty of reasons not to delete this article:[edit]

i.there are just as many articles detailing various colonies, protectorates, mandates, etc., that are far less significant than this polity, as well as many less significant independent states. ii.the commonwealth realm of ghana is distinct from the modern republic iii.not all of the information contained here is on the history page

Your first and second objections aren't really relevant to an A10 speedy deletion, but your third definitely is: the point of criterion A10 is to get rid of essentially duplicate articles or articles that contain nothing significant beyond what the established article provides. This article provides an infobox and political information that doesn't appear the "Independent Ghana" section of History of Ghana, so it doesn't qualify for A10. Be aware that the article can still be proposed for merger with History of Ghana; if it is, your first and second objections will definitely be relevant. Name of Ghana between 1957 and 1960[edit]

No; the official name of Ghana between 1957 and 1960 was simply 'Ghana' with no qualifying adjective. It was never called 'the Commonwealth Realm of Ghana'; it was simply called 'Ghana' and just happened to be a commonwealth realm.JWULTRABLIZZARD (talk) 18:09, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ghana (Commonwealth realm) → Dominion of Ghana – Natural disambiguation using the common name. The only sources that call Ghana a Commonwealth realm are Wikipedia mirrors, blogs and other unreliable websites. Books calling the country the "Dominion of Ghana" include:
