Jimmy Kimmel recently changed the photo for Don Cheadles Wiki page to one he took himself. Prior to Jimmy's change the original photo had been in place since 2011 and become somewhat famous.

I think the new photo does not present Don Cheadle correctly and should be changed to the original, which was taken at the United Nations and is much better. Sheriff lacombe (talk) 20:46, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think Don himself says in verifiable video that the photo is representative of him, and is professionally done by Jimmy Kimmel, and Don even shoots down one photo in that video that he thinks isn't good enough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82dyXsYsaPs Justaguy76 (talk) 22:50, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

Removed the following: "The Don was invited to do the commercials because he was a former player for the Arizona Cardinals. He starred on special teams for two seasons before a catastrophic knee injury suffered in a pre-season kick return ended his storied career." 128.171.154.49 (talk) 10:05, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can find no confirmation of the sentence "Don Cheadle played four seasons as kick returner for the Houston Oilers between 1985-1989." His Internet Film Database entry (http://www.imdb.com) does not mention the fact. Further, the roster of the 1986 Houston Oilers shown at http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/rosters.nsf/Annual/1986-hou does not list him. Unless it can be verified, the sentence should be removed. Quetzalboy 06:31, 29 August 2006 (UTC) the photo of Don Cheadle is out dated and of poor quality it would inprove this page greatly if some one could get a better pic, I have had " barony rubble" with up loading pics in the past. Help please. Grosscha 19:42, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added this on IMDB too[edit]

Watched "Blue Hill Avenue" twice last year. The omission of his credit for the (pivotal?) character Twinkie was evidently by his request. However, that would not be grounds for excluding this infomation from informational articles. While discussed at length on message boards, this type of omission is very seldom corrected.

Acting in the Theatre[edit]

Apparently Don Cheadle has done some theatrical acting in live plays as well. He was, at the very least, in Topdog/Underdog. Probably worth investigating, if someone has the time to dig all that information up. Bradkoch2007 (talk) 23:02, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Middle Name[edit]

I edited the infobox and corrected his name to Donald Frank Cheadle, as this is the name that was given in the main article. I could find no source for his previously listed middle name, Franklin, though if someone has one, please post and correct my edit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.193.139.132 (talk) 08:34, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please confirm that I may add an external link for Mr. Cheadle’s charity work[edit]

Please confirm that I may add the following external link, which describes a charity event that Mr. Cheadle is participating in. Mr. Cheadle’s picture is featured on this website: http://www.charitypokertournament.net The description of this link will be: "Don Cheadle is playing in the Celebrity Poker Tournament at the Playboy Mansion on May 18, 2008."

I am not affiliated with Mr. Cheadle, or with this event. WikiMonitor3 (talk) 17:50, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re: Miles Davis biopic[edit]

I heard rumors of Don Cheadle producing a Miles Davis biopic over a year ago. Not heard anything recently. What's happening with this project? Don should not only produce this but star in it as the volatile genious horn player.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.229.99.133 (talk) 00:44, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cameo appearance[edit]

From the "Career" section: "He has made appearances in films including Rosewood, The Family Man, Boogie Nights, a cameo appearance in the film Abby Singer, Out of Sight, Traffic, and Ocean's Eleven (2001).".
Isn't is a bit confusing? I wasn't sure if the cameo was refering to Abby Singer or all the last 4 films mentioned. If it's just Abby Singer, maybe it would be better to write:
"He has made appearances in films including Rosewood, The Family Man, Boogie Nights, Abby Singer (cameo appearance), Out of Sight, Traffic, and Ocean's Eleven (2001).".
Would anyone like to correct this? Thanks Kvsh5 (talk) 11:27, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DNA test[edit]

From the Personal life section: "In 2008 Cheadle's family history was profiled on the PBS series African American Lives 2. A DNA test shows that he has Cameroonian ancestry."
If the DNA issue was mentioned on the TV program, maybe it should be more clear. How about "According to the TV show, a DNA test shows that he has Cameroonian ancestry". What do you think? Thanks Kvsh5 (talk) 11:35, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don Cheadle is Captain Planet[edit]

He played Captain Planet in a short 4 episodes long series on "Funny or Die" a youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwJaELXadKo Is this something worth mentioning on his artcile here on wikipedia? It got millions of views. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:E2:DF0B:300:183F:97E7:FF54:12FB (talk) 16:20, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

kids[edit]

I believe one of Don's children now identifies as male. So could that be changed? I just wanted to discuss it before changing anything. His son has videos on YouTube (for school) and it has been rarely, but otherwise there isn't much on it. He goes just by Tai now. If there's not enough information for that to be considered credible could "daughters" at least be changed to a more ambiguous "children"? 192.138.214.116 (talk) 03:06, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

edit: actually is nonbinary and tells people to use he/him pronouns to be safe. i realized i'm actually following him on social media so i'm sure now after checking his bio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.138.214.116 (talk) 03:12, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The issue here is verifiability. How do we know that the person with the YouTube videos is in fact Cheadle's child? —C.Fred (talk) 03:41, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
https://i.imgur.com/uyBidXS.png same as the kid who made the videos. He also posted on Tumblr that he was gonna tell his dad to tell Chris Evan's his body looks like a Dorito and in a later interview RDJ called Chris a Dorito. I know that's not total proof, but he's admitted multiple times to being Don's kid online.

edit: oh and there are of course other pics of him with his dad, including family photos and movie events. 192.138.214.116 (talk) 22:48, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An imgur pic is just short of useless for verification. That's why the article will stay with what reliable sources have published until/unless new news comes out in a reliable source. —C.Fred (talk) 23:15, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Profile pic update[edit]

Apparently Don Cheadle's profile pic is a meme ( https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/2094722-don-cheadle-word-of-the-day ), and so it was a topic of conversation on Jimmy Kimmel Live ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82dyXsYsaPs ). The pic they took on the show is its own thing, but I've tweeted Cheadle to ask whether he can reply with a CC-BY pic or connect me with a rep. -- Zanimum (talk) 13:03, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like the pic was handled properly per File:Don_Cheadle_at_Jimmy_Kimmel_Live!.jpg as a VRTS ticket, so I'm inclined to let it stay unless someone has a reason why not. If you watch the clip Jimmy and and Don specifically requested this one and gave permission. Andre🚐 20:28, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • As y'all know by now, Cheadle requested this pic be used on the Kimmel show. If we want a more generic and professional pic, let's not restore the one he specifically doesn't like Andre🚐 19:58, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The photo being somewhat famous is why Don Cheadle requested to have it changed. He specifically himself requested the one from Kimmel's show, but of course, I can see that it's a bit of a weird image and maybe not representative of him, but we shouldn't be restoring the bad "meme" photo either since he has specifically requested a different photo be used. If we change the photo, we should change it to something else altogether, neither the Kimmel photo or the "Meme". Andre🚐 21:06, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Paul Erik, El C, Andrevan, Sheriff lacombe, Zanimum, Justaguy76, Schazjmd, LilianaUwU, Scrawlspacer, Jwalte04, LizardJr8, Nickb1405, and Coumbos:
Hello everyone! Sorry for dragging you all into this but I would like to discuss the current image of Don Cheadle. I have already checked https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Image_use_policy and found the cheetos image to be totally fine to be used.
The haters of Jimmy Kimmel and Don Cheadle are attacking the page and changing it back to a decade old image. The current image is a 100% fit image for Wikipedia and the rights were also released properly. Other than this, Don Cheadle himself requested for the change and chose the current image! It's just an image change, so I don't understand why some editors (usually IP addresses) are reverting back the image. It is not a big deal! Also, the cheetos image does look good compared to his other pictures where he looks like a sad and depressed man.
Admin El C protected the page but as soon as the protection got over, the attacks were back and the image was changed. The cheetos image is a very recent one and abide by Wikipedia's policies, so I believe it shouldn't be removed without a thorough consensus.
