Hand double[edit]

A hand double was often used for James Doohan in the original Star Trek because he was missing a finger. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bizzybody (talkcontribs) 06:34, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Ahnold[edit]

I removed this:

Emissions-Jocke could be the most famous body double, he managed to lift heavier weights than Arnold in the movie Pumping Iron which made the director choose Joakim before Arnold in scenes which demanded heavy lifting!.

Removed bcz

  1. unsourced
  2. unechoed in our Pumping Iron article
  3. subject to WP:BLP
  4. At the risk of committing ad hominem and violating WP:NPA, i note that the flagrant ignoring of punctuation rules, grammar, and the punctuation price-list (and comma-subsidy), all undercut the credibility of the contributor

(In the event the above issues are addressed, the changes needed prior to any restoration to the article are too many to enumerate.)

Digital composition and future of this terminology[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nymphomaniac_(film)#Filming indicates that the future of body double work may be changing from conventional cropped replacement/long shot makeup disguise, to digital composition where direction requires the actors' faces in the shot. Are there film people who can categorize whether the adult film actors whose genitals are superimposed on the primary cast's bodies in this movie qualify as body doubles, or is this a new category?

Hugo Weaving example replaced with Deep Roy in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory[edit]

By the time Matrix: Revolutions was filmed, the Wachowskis replaced digital crowds with practical effects for Agent Smith crowds, providing a small army of body doubles in identical suits, wigs and sunglasses with painted rigid life masks of a scowling Weaving[1], largely because they're supposed to be clones with no individuality. The example with Deep Roy is more accurate to an example of digital duplication: each Oompa Loompa in a crowd scene was Roy individually performing at different positions on the set (using computer-controlled camera tracking to ensure consistency), then overlaid in post. While there's a similar practical effect exception in the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the Oompa Loompas rowing the Wonka boat are actually scale model mechanical puppets), it's only seen for a few seconds.
