Uber incident[edit]

A viral video is going around about a confrontation between Davis and an Uber driver, in which Davis accuses the Uber driver of anti-semitism, harassing his children, and threatening him. An attempt was already made to add this to the page, obviously by someone with no editing experience.

Wanted to give a heads up, I'm not qualified to discern or decide if this incident is notable, but the page may see repeated attempts to add it to the personal life or controversies section.

I watched the video, it does appear rather embarrassing for Davis, but doubt it falls under a notable incident unless it becomes a widely reported event. Cryptohydrate (talk) 03:12, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it's notable as it has gone viral, and for a cultural perspective on what gig workers have to endure in certain cases. One of the many Reddit posts about it are here: https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnewsvideo/comments/1cdbxjl/douglas_j_davis_bullying_an_uber_driver_and/
I also strongly suspect that, given his wealth, cultural capital, and legal training, he will do everything to quash this, so in my opinion Wikipedia should set a high bar on allowing people in his position to do so. 141.213.162.206 (talk) 15:38, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Cryptohydrate (talk) 18:29, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why shouldn't a mention of the video be included? The guy has a relatively small profile, and, for many, this video is likely how they became aware of him. If anything, this incident is probably one of the most notable things about Doug Davis. There should be a reference to it in the personal life section, at the very least. 81.84.45.81 (talk) 16:11, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Cryptohydrate (talk) 18:30, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's had millions of views across social media, and definitely of note about this individual. ScienceandFitness (talk) 19:44, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Uber incident should be included as otherwise the Wikipedia entry is nothing more than a vanity page barely worthy of social media. 81.107.241.110 (talk) 04:55, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This incident should be included as it it is a factual incident that occurred. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.182.216.4 (talk) 18:59, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely should be included, it's *notable* about this individual. His team is also now getting it removed on reddit! ScienceandFitness (talk) 19:43, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It has hit the news now as well:
Clive Davis’ son, lawyer Doug Davis, accuses bemused Uber driver of ‘antisemitism and threatening his family’
Clive Davis' Lawyer Son Accuses Bewildered Uber Driver of 'Racially Profiling' Him in Dispute Caught on Camera
As already said, this is the only reason I know who this person is and why I'm now on his Wikipedia page (which looks rather self-indulgent).BenNYC1 (talk) 06:52, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
We are attempting to work with editors to have this incident added to the page, but the page has been locked due to multiple non compliant edits. Cryptohydrate (talk) 12:59, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Twitter[edit]

The Twitter account @DJD is referenced in this article, but it is now protected. Since the article implies that it's a "power account," but is inaccessible, should this line item remain? Cryptohydrate (talk) 13:06, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's a dishonest sentence anyway. The cited link is a list of media people in an industry magazine. He's named, yes, under "TWITTER POWER: Who in the biz scores high in social-media savvy?" The Wikipedia article implies he was bestowed with some accolade, and the words, put in quotations no less, "Top 5 Music Power Account" don't appear at all. Not to mention this is from 2012 and certainly has little relevancy to Twitter in 2024. But where do you start editing an article like this? It's almost entirely insignificant trivia wedged in by an insecure person to flatter themselves. That's not what Wikipedia is meant for. BenNYC1 (talk) 22:23, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
