This page has some interesting fiction on it! ... From la Mademoiselle du Glas, or de Glaise as it is (and was originally) in French. :) Perhaps the writer needs to view our family archives? Drumlanrig would be a good place to start.

Douglas West[edit]

I've been researching an old birth certificate from a mining family in the 1920s. The person was born in "Douglas West". I find on this website "https://www.scottish-places.info/towns/townfirst1028.html" a note that it was a mining settlement just a mile north-west of Douglas, but I can't find evidence of much of a residential area there now. (Cf. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Douglas+West,+Lanark+ML11+0RR,+UK/@55.5576816,-3.8714012,280m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x48881b047128b491:0x38e49be20d255169!8m2!3d55.5576172!4d-3.8719913) Could somebody with local knowledge maybe add a couple of sentences on this?
