Requested edits from Douglas Peterson, subject of article[edit]

Hello, my name is Tracy and I work for S&P Global. S&P Global's President and CEO, Douglas Peterson, has asked that I update his Wikipedia biography, as it has become outdated and some of the statements made in this article are no longer true. In addition, most of the links (which reference S&P Global's former domain, mhfi.com) no longer work, so I have replaced the references with working links. Finally, he has also asked for some stylistic changes to improve the flow of information. The changes are as follows:

Extended content

Opening paragraph:

Please remove "an American businessman and" and add S&P Global's New York Stock Exchange value. Reference here: https://www.nyse.com/quote/XNYS:SPGI.

Also add sentence "Mr. Peterson has served on S&P Global’s Board of Directors since July 2013." Reference here: http://investor.spglobal.com/file/Index?KeyFile=18160595 This would rewrite the paragraph to look like the below:

Douglas L. Peterson is the chief executive officer of S&P Global[1] (NYSE: SPGI)[2], formerly McGraw Hill Financial. He became president and chief executive officer in November 2013. Mr. Peterson has served on S&P Global’s Board of Directors since July 2013.[3] He originally joined the company as president of Standard & Poor's Ratings Services in 2011. [4][5]

First Section: Early Career

Replace "Before S&P Global" with "Early Career" in the first section of the page.

Add "Mr." before Peterson in first sentence.

Remove "he served at the time as" and replace with "He was." Paragraph should read as such:

Mr. Peterson was a longtime employee of Citigroup and worked there for 26 years in various positions around the world. He was the chief operating officer of Citibank, N.A., before joining S&P Global. From 2004 to 2010, Mr. Peterson was the CEO of Citigroup Japan. He was chief auditor of Citigroup from 2001 to 2004. Earlier positions within Citigroup include serving as country manager for Uruguay and Costa Rica.[6]

Second Section: S&P Global Leadership

Replace "Education" with "S&P Global Leadership" - this is, essentially, a new section. Move "Education" to the bottom of the page. The text and references are below:

Under Mr. Peterson’s leadership, S&P Global has grown and succeeded by any number of measures. From 2014 through 2017 revenue increased from $5 billion to $6 billion and profitability rose as the adjusted operating profit margin improved from 36% to 47%. Since the start of 2014 through the third quarter of 2018, S&P Global has returned more than $6 billion to shareholders in the form of dividends and share repurchases. [7] Since 2014, the company has also underscored its commitment to diversity by appointing new women to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Peterson has put an emphasis on technology and innovation, demonstrated by the 2018 acquisitions of the artificial intelligence company Kensho[8][9] and machine-learning powered company Panjiva.[10]

As CEO, he is also overseeing investments to build the company’s portfolio of products and services catering to the growing needs of companies and investors interested in environmental, social and governance (ESG) data, benchmarks and analytics. In 2018, S&P Global unveiled an evaluation tool to enable companies and investors to align ESG strategies with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals[11] and in 2016, S&P Global acquired Trucost, an environmental data and analytics company.[12][13]

Under Mr. Peterson’s direction, S&P Global has made global expansion another focus. In 2018, S&P Global announced its intentions to build a domestic credit rating agency in the third-largest bond market in the world, China, and in 2016, the company acquired a 49% interest in TRIS Rating, Thailand’s leading rating agency.[14][15]S&P Global is the majority owner of India’s leading credit rating agency and global analytics company, CRISIL.[16]

Earlier in his tenure as CEO, Mr. Peterson and the management team continued work to transform the company by divesting non-core businesses such as McGraw Hill Construction[17] and J.D. Power[18], and investing in financial data and analytics businesses, including SNL Financial.[19]

In 2016, Mr. Peterson announced that the company was changing its name from McGraw Hill Financial to S&P Global.[20]

Third Section: Leadership Outside S&P Global

Replace "Life and career outside S&P Global" with "Leadership Outside S&P Global"

After first sentence, remove "He is a member of the board of directors of S&P Global, the Institute of International Finance's Market Monitoring Group." and add "In 2018, he was named to the Business Roundtable’s Board of Directors and selected as chairman of the Roundtable’s Smart Regulation Committee." Reference: https://www.businessroundtable.org/business-roundtable-announces-2019-leadership

Add "Mr. Peterson has spoken extensively about the need for public-private sector partnerships as a means of improving infrastructure around the world as a leader of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Infrastructure Task Force." References: https://www.businessroundtable.org/business-roundtable-announces-2019-leadership https://bipartisanpolicy.org/topics/infrastructure/?c=infrastructure https://www.bna.com/sp-global-ceo-b57982090111/ https://www.rollcall.com/news/opinion/we-built-panama-canal-surely-can-fix-infrastructure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1mQcCWEl-s

Add "In addition, Mr. Peterson is a Steward of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Shaping the Future of Long-Term Investing, Infrastructure and Development System and a member of WEF’s Financial Services Governors Community." Remove "He has also served on the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's Systemic Resolution Advisory Committee for over two years. Peterson serves on the boards of advisors for the Wharton Financial Institutions Center, as well as the Kravis Leadership Institute and the Partnership for New York City. Peterson is a member of the boards of trustees for Claremont McKenna College and is also on the board for Paul Taylor Dance Company." and replace with "He serves on the Advisory Boards of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Systemic Resolution Advisory Committee, the US-China Business Council, the Partnership for New York City and the Kravis Leadership Institute, and the Boards of Trustees of Claremont McKenna College and the Paul Taylor Dance Company." Reference: http://investor.spglobal.com/CustomPage/Index?KeyGenPage=326507&bio=Douglas_L+_Peterson. Section should read like this:

Mr. Peterson has and continues to serve on a variety of boards, in addition to his duties at S&P Global.

In 2018, he was named to the Business Roundtable’s Board of Directors and selected as chairman of the Roundtable’s Smart Regulation Committee.[21]

Mr. Peterson has spoken extensively about the need for public-private sector partnerships as a means of improving infrastructure around the world as a leader of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Infrastructure Task Force.[22][23][24][25]

In addition, Mr. Peterson is a Steward of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Shaping the Future of Long-Term Investing, Infrastructure and Development System and a member of WEF’s Financial Services Governors Community. He serves on the Advisory Boards of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Systemic Resolution Advisory Committee, the US-China Business Council, the Partnership for New York City and the Kravis Leadership Institute, and the Boards of Trustees of Claremont McKenna College and the Paul Taylor Dance Company. [26]

Final Section: Education and Personal Life

Move "Education" to bottom and add "and Personal Life" to title of section. Add: "Mr. Peterson was raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is married and has two sons." References: https://thriveglobal.com/stories/top-business-executive-douglas-peterson-thrive-questionnaire/ https://www.cmc.edu/news/does-it-surprise-you-that-sps-new-president-happens-to-be-a-claremont-mckenna-alumnus

Move text from existing education section. Text will read as follows:

Mr. Peterson was raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is married and has two sons.[27][28] Mr. Peterson earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics and history from Claremont McKenna College in 1980. He earned his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1985.[29]
