community article(s) vs this is a corporate one[edit]

Just to note there's still a need for Douglas Lake, British Columbia as an unincoporated settlement, also a post office, is on the Douglas Lake Ranch; there's also I think an associated Indian Reserve, Spaxomin I think. This article so far is for the company and the ranch, not the postal address or community.lSkookum1 (talk) 03:39, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nicola Valley rail line[edit]

Saw this:

In 1907 the Nicola branch line of the CPR was built into the Nicola Valley to serve the booming stock operation at Douglas Lake,

Maybe I even put that there, but in online readings since (and quite a while ago) I came across history of coal mining in BC. Nicola, British Columbia was one of the first coal mines in the Interior and was the object of teh railway's immediate attention; also other railways, most of which were gobbled up fairly quickly. It happened to be convenient for the Douglas Lake Ranch that a rail line came close to their HQ; the Gang Ranch wasn't so lucky needless to say. I think the bit I"m thinking of might be in Scholefield & Howay, one of the main early "major histories" of the province....I'll see if I can find it again....Skookum1 (talk) 14:04, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
