Downpayment calculator[edit]

I have a mortgage calculator that compares the impact of different downpayments. It can be viewed here, and may make sense to add to the article. Downpayment Mortgage Comparison Calculator

History of Down Payments[edit]

Has there been any consideration given to starting a new section on the history of the down payment?

Perhaps I'm just missing it, but the reason for asking is I've been searching for a detailed history of the housing down payment, and I can't find it -- either on Wikipedia or anywhere else on the Internet for that matter. In general I'm interested in both a history of the down payment in the United States as well as the history in other countries. I'm also interested in differences between different states over time. --Waltsos (talk) 01:53, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Situation in other countries[edit]

This article is mainly about the situation in the USA. A comparison to other countries would be interesting and one could also add a few words about the contribution of extremely low downpayment rates in the creation of speculative bubbles. Just for example: In Switzerland (where I come from) the downpayment for a real estate mortgage is still 20% of the prize, which seems economically sound and reasonable (unlike the 3.5% or less(!) in the USA).

Home Down Payment Assistance Program in India[edit]

We, now, have the first-of-its-kind home down payment assistance program in India for first time home buyers. It enables first time home buyers to get up to half of their total home down payment need in the form of Zero Cost EMI. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thetraveller84 (talkcontribs) 13:04, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
