1000+[edit]

I read the maintenance template. Then I did a search on Allmusic for the song. There are over 1000 cover versions. Do we really want to make a table or list of 1000+ songs? If not, and I assume not, then which versions should be included and in what form? Table? List? Cited how?

I whittled it down to 270 so far, eliminating duplicates. So there are 270 that can be documented by allmusic, if desired. I'll take a look at what's notable.

Nothing in the covers list is documented. Therefore it should be deleted, right? Wikipedia isn't a place where you simply tack on information because you happen to know it. The information has to come from a published ource and the source has to be cited.

See WP:COVERSONG. At this time, there is a table of a few dozen covers. Only cover versions/renditions important enough to have gained attention in their own right should be added to song articles. Album track listings, listings in discographies, etc., do not show that versions by other artists are noteworthy. Cover songs with only these types of sources (like Allmusic) should not be added to song articles, either as prose or in a list. Toddst1 (talk) 07:06, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nat King Cole[edit]

The date listed of 1999 for Nat King Cole's rendition is a reissue, he died in 1965. Not finding a reliable source for his first release, this compilation is 1955. 10th Anniversary Album, Part 1 There are indications of 1947, possibly recorded on October 28. 22yearswothanks (talk) 20:06, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lyrics author[edit]

There seems to be a dispute about the person who wrote the lyrics to this song. I happened upon this dispute (which has been edit warred over) and provided what I think is a WP:RS to support the now current article's version of the lyricist. If anyone thinks this is incorrect, please discuss it here before reverting further.

Beautiful South[edit]

Anyone want to add in the version of the song done in French for the movie "French Kiss"? Beautiful South did this as "Les Yeux Ouverts" - gorgeous version, also used in Devil Wears Prada. So it really needs to be added to the page.
