We will write sections as you see above. Also we will add more detail sections.

Hong inki(talk) will work on Manner of alcohol with adults

Dhtpgus90(talk) will work on History of Korean drinking culture —Preceding undated comment added 00:36, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The overall plan looks reasonable, but you need to provide a list of references you will use. I wouldn't focus too much on comparison with other cultures, unless you find good sources. Focus on the Korean culture and its characteristics firsts. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:58, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
we will use some references about past and present drinking culture of Korea. I searched about it, then I found some references. There are references we found. we found documentary which was shown on TV about drinking culture of Korea. This is about drinking history of Korea and comparing with America and Japan. Also, we will find other good references more.Dhtpgus90 (talk) 12:06, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think this is a good selection of sources. You may want to add them to the article right now, to a section entitled further reading, to show others that you have plenty of sources. Remember than when you do so, you should also translate the title, add the name of the authors, dates of publication, and so on. Keep up the good work! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:05, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Drinking culture of korea is interesting subject to me! Access with history is nice way to introducing this subject i think. I suggest that it is nice approach by adding another section such as 'Traditional Alcohol Map' I know there are lots of traditional alcohol according to region. It will help to nourish your article i think. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Byung do jung (talkcontribs) 14:36, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

=I edited two articles of the team 'Drinking culture of Korea'. I thought if some of the sentences are edited, the foreigners would understand more easily. I think you all have interesting subject and hope to see more articles and references since Psy, Korean musician famous of Gangnam-style is giving some tips of drinking culture in Korea to the foreigners. Furthermore, I thought they would try to find more information about it.

I think this 'Drinking culture' is very interested subject. But korean drinking culture have many problem. So I think that writing about this area is also fresh. And it must be have a reliance reference. HaeYoon (talk) 10:02, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

good article. ^A^ I suggest that you can add main dishes with each of korean alcohol. like makgeolli with pajeon, soju with pork belly.--Minzi Yuk (talk) 12:28, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nice article. There is no where tell a story about Korean alcohol culture. I am very curious about this article's way. So please adding a information about many kinds of alcohol such as Korean beer, Soju, Makgeoli, Andong-Soju etc. Because Korea has many kinds of alcoholic drink, separated by making method.--Young Seong Kim (talk) 13:32, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article is very interesting. But I think you should pay attention when you write and edit article. This article tell everyone not subjective view but the objective facts.Hyegyeong Yun (talk) 15:22, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is good idea to deal with Korean Drinking Culture. I think if you add alcohol and food combination like beer and peanuts combination, this article very useful!:D --Bohyunlee (talk) 14:48, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that other student opinion. your group should make decision about If your group want to some countries compared with South Korea's drinking culture. Good luck:) — Preceding unsigned comment added by LEE JUNG HYUN (talkcontribs) 06:24, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I just re-named and deleted quite a lot from the drinking etiquette section. This was because I don't think it was easy to understand the English so I wasn't sure what was being said. The content was probably good, if it can be re-written. This is an interesting article to me so I'm trying to help :) Lawsonstu (talk) 12:41, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

History[edit]

I suggest that add '귀밝이술'. Korean drank alchol before breakfast in the 15th of January by the lunar calendar. It represent Korea alcohol culture so It would suitable for this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Choi Hyun Hee (talkcontribs) 07:18, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Translations[edit]

Quote from # Modern drinking culture:

In a Korea program, 쿨.까.당., Sam Hammington said: "Colorful drinking culture in Korea, I'd like true love. However, poktanju, surfing glasses, glass recycling, etc. until drunk Eating does not seem real". This is how Korean drinking culture is different from other countries.

-> Can't anybody translate this a little bit more comprehensible ?

Instructor review[edit]

  • Lead: short - needs expansion and minor grammar cleanup. Second sentence suffers from WP:EDITORIALIZING ("of course").
  • Remainder of the article has an acceptable structure, but needs much more content. "How to" sections should be reworded; see WP:NOTGUIDE. The "Foreign countries drinking culture" seems unnecessary, your focus should be on Korea, not on other countries.
  • single reference is good, but you need more references; they should follow each new claim.

You haven't finished starting the peer review. You still need to chose category (arts), and fill in the request. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:18, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have not seen any significant editing here since early May. This article needs all the issues raised above addressed! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:39, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

important over the bowl[edit]

In the section Alcohol drinking etiquette I find "...because Korean ancestors thought that pouring and receiving drinks was important over the bowl." What does that mean? Bus stop (talk) 09:51, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As a Korean and a drinker, I have no idea. The sentence was written by Dhtpgus90, so it would be great if they could answer the question. (Here's the diff.) --Tisanophile (talk) 08:33, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

alcoholism[edit]

Reportedly, alcoholism is rampant in South Korea-- they're supposed to consume twice as much alcohol as Russians. They must be aware of the problem, and making some efforts to treat it-- what are they? Don't these count as part of the drinking culture? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.210.156.154 (talk) 20:27, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of countries by alcohol consumption per capita shows South Koreans drink considerably less than Russians, and people in a number of other countries. -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 22:28, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Korea or South Korea?[edit]

While this isn't an unusual problem with Korea-related articles, it's hard to tell if this article wants to be about Korea or South Korea. A sentence like "South Korea's interest in creating its own alcohol came about during the Koryo Dynasty (946–943)" isn't exactly wrong, but reads very odd. If we're talking about traditions that go back hundreds of years, I would assume at least some of them persist in North Korea. Given the paucity of reliable information about North Korea, maybe this is just a request to be more precise with language. It's probably just fine to have a "Drinking culture of Korea" article that takes the broad view but has more information about South Korea. --BDD (talk) 15:09, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Revert the December 2020 edit?[edit]

The last revision of this article included lots of text that doesn't seem encyclopedic in nature. Additionally, there are no citations included. Should this be reverted? 66.188.173.126 (talk) 21:08, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Totally agree. Those addition are unsourced, appear to be WP:OR and are excessive for the article lede. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 01:48, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
