Comments[edit]

At last, someone with a brain.

  • Name for the page : i prefer it to be Drizzt's Scimitars. Drizzt used no longbow (why kept mentioning it ??), and seldom other weapons. Besides doing so ensure that the topic stays on the two sword.
  • The structure of the article: there should first be a brief introduction introducing this article itself, then the two blades as second level headings.
  • Statistics: they looked so confusing, i say lets tablize them.

Thanks! I'll start cleaning it up now. Turlo Lomon 07:50, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, would you like to start work on the intro while I clean up the stats? Turlo Lomon 07:51, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How does Icingdeath look now? Turlo Lomon 07:58, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I truly hope I didn't step on your toes while we were both editing. I was worried you may have left the edit tag up and gone to sleep or something. Turlo Lomon 09:47, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Weapon Stat Format[edit]

Edition Statistics References
2nd frostbrand +3 scimitar [1]
3.0 frostbrand +3 scimitar [2]
3.5 +3 frost scimitar [3]

Idea. What do you think? Turlo Lomon 09:25, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, went ahead and made the changes. To me it looks a lot cleaner. I just hope I am not the only one who thinks that way. Turlo Lomon 10:13, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The table looks excellent, in fact. Should have done this long time ago. --Cynehelm 13:33, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Usage of quotes[edit]

Reading them over now, I am concerned if I overdid it. They are directly relevant to the article. However, am I over quoting? Turlo Lomon 09:42, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Demon Slayer?[edit]

A question about the section where Drizzt takes out Errtu, one of the original Balor demons.

This is more likely a result of the sword being especially destructive to creatures of fire, as the weapon as originally presented was a frostbrand, a weapon with magical cold properties from Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition.

A scimitar does 1d8 damage, with a 2x crit threshold. Assuming +6 damage versus fire using creatures, this would be 1d8 + 6 + 1 (STR). Let's assume max damage. 25 (as on crits, you only double weapon base damage). Times two strokes, and you get 50. This is signicantly less hit points then a Balor demon would have, especially one ancients.

Based on this information, I am suggesting we remove the quoted text above, as I think the game mechanics clearly show there is something more at work then just a frostbrand scimitar. Of course, this should require consensus before any change like this is made. Turlo Lomon 09:21, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus is not an issue in a encyclopedia, so be bold. However, your suggestion is based on the caculations of table games, while above quoted text are from novels. A fictional world is just that, fictional. Caculation conflicts with description, so what ? man creates it, inconsistency exists everywhere. As long as the quotoed text is truly an official thing, it stands. --Cynehelm 09:36, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the quote is not from the novel, but someone adding game mechanics into the discussion, thus my bringing up game mechanics to refute it. I'll remove the line, since it is weasel-wordy (i.e. more likely). Turlo Lomon 10:01, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Which side?[edit]

It's been years since I read any Drizzt books, but I think this is unlikely, if not impossible.

  • "Drizzt wields Icingdeath with his right hand, wearing it on his left hip when not in use."
  • "Drizzt wields Twinkle with his right hand, wearing it on his left hip when not in use."
