John Astley[edit]

Just to note that John Astley links to a dab page. Would be nice to have a proper article if anybody has any information.Cutler (talk) 11:14, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try and get up-to-date on him, the Tameside webpage mentions:-
"John Astley (1724-1787) to whom fell the Dukinfield Estate, who built Dukinfield Lodge, pursued locally by coal, iron and cotton industries and benefited the town.
Not too sure about their grammar, but as i said now i have the dates I'll go and trawl for info

Another mistake there - they have 1720-1787 (it states he died 1787 at 67 years old) on the history of dukinfield page
http://www.tameside.gov.uk/buildings/dukinfieldth/reopening/chronology
Dukinfield lodge appears to be similar to Astley grammar school, on astley road (which makes sense) maybe it was designed to look like it?
Anyway, ill do some research and get back to you on here. Chaosdruid (talk) 01:55, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot to say that I managed to get some work done on Astley !, anyway I did lol John Astley (Painter)
Next target, Geography and a bit more on more ancient history of Duky. I'll try to find a photo of the side entrance (the one on Chapel St.) Chaosdruid (talk) 00:30, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shipman[edit]

Hi

I have hidden Shipman as a notable person. I propose to delete it after discussion here, or if no discussion after a week or so.

He was not from Dukinfield, did not live there, did not have his practice there.

He was from Nottingham, lived in Mottram and his practice was in Hyde.

If anything the notable person would be the victim. Chaosdruid (talk) 20:44, 5 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
