Fair use rationale for Image:Loudoun Seal.jpg[edit]

Image:Loudoun Seal.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:33, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zipcode Dulles/Sterling[edit]

The search-by-city for "Dulles" lists these zip codes as/of 2008-04-09:

  • 20201 (DULLES P & D CENTER, VA)
  • 20102 (DULLES AIR MAIL FACILITY, VA)
  • 20103 (STAMP DISTRIBUTION NETWORK, VA)
  • 20104 (INSPECTION SERVICE FORENSIC, VA)
  • 20163 (STERLING, VA)
  • 20166 (STERLING, VA) - marked as "acceptable"
  • 20189 (DULLES, VA) - marked as "acceptable"
  • 20199 (VISA LOTTERY STATE DEPT, VA)

The search page shows "20163 (DULLES, VA IS NOT ACCEPTABLE - USE STERLING) (PO BOX)", however checking in the Find all cities in a zipcode gives more of the story. Except for 20166 and 20189, they're marked "not acceptable", since they're post-offices boxes for specific organizations. Note however, that 20189 is marked "acceptable" for Dulles, Virginia. Chantilly[edit]

Noting that someone's redrafting the Chantilly boundaries to match the CDP map, the airport authority disagrees with that.{http://www.metwashairports.com/Dulles/] Tedickey (talk) 23:20, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

Could someone who knows more than me add in the pronunciation? It's certainly not immediately obvious, looks like "Dull-ez" but I guess it could be "Jewlz" or anything in between! --Pontificalibus (talk) 15:10, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Like this TEDickey (talk) 20:39, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's useful, now how to form it in IPA? I'm not an expert but it I think it's something like /ˈdʌləz/.--Pontificalibus (talk) 18:01, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
something like that, though the second syllable doesn't seem right (an expert would be useful) TEDickey (talk) 00:34, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

zipcodes as a means of expression?[edit]

A recent edit tells us that USPS considers Dulles to be part of Sterling. Zip-codes do a lot of things, but as a means of expression, that probably requires a WP:RS TEDickey (talk) 20:37, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
