To not merge, given independent notability of the historic railroad. Klbrain (talk) 11:50, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Both are very short articles, one is the successor to the other. They can be covered in one article which would make both easier to understand. MB 01:17, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would be better to keep them separate. The topics are distinct save for the fact that they operate(d) the same stretch of railroad. Mackensen (talk) 09:34, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can understand the rationale behind proposing a merge, but in this instance I concur with Mackensen. They're distinct companies, and it's best to have separate articles for them. Consider Central Vermont Railway and New England Central Railroad. The latter is the direct successor to the former, but there's enough distinct things to discuss for each that both merit their own articles. I'm often a mergist, but railroad companies are an exception to that. I only support merging when one company is a subsidiary of another and never operated trains (for instance, I merged Hartford and Springfield Railroad into Hartford and New Haven Railroad because the former was a subsidiary created for legal purposes and never operated trains). I will drop Cloquet Terminal Railroad on my list of articles to expand, I have a personal goal of one day getting a railroad GA in every state. @Mackensen and Trainsandotherthings:, merging would avoid notability issues. The article has one source, and while I can finds lots of passing mentions of this railroad, I haven't found anything in-depth. If you can add some better sources, please do. Otherwise, it will probably be AFD or Draftify. MB 21:13, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A railroad that operated for decades is almost certainly notable, and it doesn't become more or less notable if it's merged somewhere else. Let me look around. Mackensen (talk) 21:17, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
[1] [2] [3] it took me all of 5 minutes to find these and this is far from all that's out there. I'm practically a deletionist as far as my AfD habits are concerned and even I think this easily clears GNG. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 21:20, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
