As a technical note - The same error correction is already built into CD/DVD/BD media, it is quite robust. Such applications as this add redundant error correction. 69.246.143.46 (talk) 12:12, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Redundancy is good if it remains intact after the source and original error correction data is damaged. If only I knew of a way to use my 500gb disk to store the same sort of data from my 2tb disks as DVDisaster stores from/on DVDs. I just had to replace a 1tb disk after it encountered numerous bad sectors and lost several files. But I suppose this type of redundant error correction data is useless unless it is regenerated every time the data on the source is altered.--86.8.252.7 (talk) 08:31, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

I think the current six references provide sufficient notability. It should also be considered, that this is currently the only software application which uses Reed–Solomon codes specialized for optical media backup. Does uniqueness and innovation not factor into notability? Liawagner (talk) 08:07, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this were a vote, I would answer "strongly agree" to the last question ; Arny (talk) 08:44, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
