Overall this is a good article, though I do have a few issues to fix:

  • The article should start with the full name rather than noting it later.
    •  Done
  • "Johns initially served at the United States Military Academy as an instructor in the department of tactics but in July 1916" The instructor departments are capitalized below, so should this be too?
    •  Done
  • "Johns was reduced in rank to captain in August 1919,[1] but was promoted to major again in February 1921. In June 1921 he entered the Massachusetts Institute of Technology." Any rationale for the demotion? Is that a common occurrence? I wouldn't think that it is.
    •  Done No, it was a very common occurrence in the aftermath of World War I. Wartime rank was temporary and most officers lost it when the war ended and the armies were disbanded. You can count the officers who were not reduced to substantive rank on your fingers. (Start with Douglas MacArthur.) Some officers took twenty years to regain their wartime rank. For example, Dwight Eisenhower was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1918, but reverted to captain in June 1920. He was promoted to major again two days later, but did not regain his wartime rank of lieutenant colonel until 1936.
  • "Commander there felt that the courses for concentrating too much on leadership in combat and not enough on the operation and maintenance of equipment." Needs slight rewording.
    •  Done Re-worded.

I'll put the article on hold for a few days and will pass it when the issues are fixed. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 16:18, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
