Trans-lanthanide properties, syntheses[edit]

It would be nice to discuss structure within the context of other lanthanide halides (see gadolinium trichloride. Also the synthetic methods in these two reports differ, I suspect that the ammonium chloride method is fairly general and more important. It would be helpful to start a small project where methods and properties that apply to all lanthanides are inserted in one shot.--Smokefoot 03:34, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Although I'm an organic chemist, I use lanthanides all the time, in fact my student used about 25 g of DyCl3 about a month ago. I think we should have a series of articles like "Chlorides of the lanthanides" or "Lanthanide chlorides" or "Halides of the lanthanides" or similar, to give the broader perspective. Also see my comment here, maybe that page (and the chemicals WikiProject) would be an appropriate place to debate the issue. Also, your comment about a "project" makes me chuckle, as I recall an earlier comment to PC that I wanted to start a WikiProject, "Lanthanides I have known and loved" - many a true word spoken in jest...? References[edit]

I was cleaning up the references, and a bunch of these were in the article, but had nothing that was attributed to them, so I'm reproducing them here. Maybe someone could find out what they are and source them?
