Question & comment

  • "In October that year Morris sold The Anvil—by then selling about 3,560 copies monthly": was anvil monthly (thus selling 3,560 copies per issue), or was that combined circulation for all issues published in a month?
  • I've been bold and switched up the wording where the word "comic" was used, for the sake of clarity and MOS:COMMONALITY: the British use of "comic" roughly translates to the American "comic book"; in AmEng "comic" refers primarily to the content rather than the format ("comic" can mean "comic book", "graphic novel", "comic strip", "webcomic", and individual story in any of these formats, etc). I am not clear what "Advances in printing technology offered a substantial improvement on the original issue's faded colours." is trying to say - that later issues had better printing ? That isn't really relevant for that main infobox, is it ? -- Beardo (talk) 19:12, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Split? Additional bits?

I've been doing a lot of work on the lesser-known Fleetway weeklies and it's naturally thrown up plenty of sources on Eagle. While I'm usually happy to Be Bold and rewrite dogshit articles out of hand this one is great and I'd rather seek a bit of consensus before I break anything. I am also aware that my idea of improvements are not the same as everyone else's, and prefer consensus when there are signs of life on an article.

  • Firstly on this page it feels a little like the title's 1960s decline and changes of ownership are a little buried, certainly compared to the lavish detail of the title's fifties pomp. Naturally the decline shouldn't overpower the stuff where the comic was a cultural titan, but it feels like there's room for expansion there.
  • Secondly, I was wondering what thoughts were about splitting off the 'New Eagle' to a separate page? There are quite a few sources out there to support a separate article and while it wasn't anywhere near as influential or popular as the original it did have its' own successes, while at the same time being quite different beyond the name and the presence of (a) Dan Dare.

Be interested to hear any thoughts on this, and won't be messing with anything until I hear something from those who've put such fantastic work into the article. BoomboxTestarossa (talk) 10:57, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
