Founding[edit]

Some of the text is unique to this article, but the rest comes from the Vilas County article (under history -> settlement). This isn't really the best content for this article- it applies to the whole county, and it doesn't really apply to the founding of the city. ItalianMustache (talk) 04:16, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Million dollar homes[edit]

  • Someone has recently posted that 39.7% of lakefront homes are million dollars. Could someone back this fact up? I know lakefront homes are expensive, but a lot of the homes are small summer homes--hard to believe that over a 3rd of them are worth $1mill+. Please review, post referrences, or it will be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jjegers (talkcontribs) 04:38, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The following home fact. 39.7% of waterfront homes in city limits are priced over $1,000,000[1].

I looked up this reference, and it is to a realestate agency, and the search is for 3 houses that are for sale around $900k that aren't even in Eagle River. Not sure how that backs up the 39.7% fact. From my searching on the real estate website, there are 8 houses for sale with only 1 of them being over $1mill, so that comes out to 12.5% I don't really think we can use the current listing on a real estate agency site as proof of what houses are worth. Especially since there are only 8 houses for sale (in city limits Eagle River) There are many houses not for sale, and not every house is listed with this realestate agent (eg. for sale by owners). We really need to look at city tax records or some other information like that. Jjegers (talk) 16:27, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--Whatever I honestly don't care about it this much. My family has owned a lakehouse up there since I can remember. My property as well as everyone along our part of eagle lake has seen their homes appraised at over $1,000,000. But if you care this much I don't. From my experience in the area, the expensive lakefront homes are mostly concentrated on Catfish Lake in the Town of Washington- the shoreline in the City of Eagle River isn't terribly desirable as it only has one small isolated lake, Silver Lake, and the rest is either on the river itself or on part of Yellow Birch Lake or on the Wisconsin River. These bodies of water simply don't have as much of a draw as others in the area. ItalianMustache (talk) 04:16, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
