Docking Eagle[edit]

The page currently contains a description of the "Docking Eagle" as follows:

Docking Eagle — Usually a standard Eagle fitted with an extendable airlock to enable docking with another craft in space. This was seen in the episode Collision Course when John Koenig had to dock with Alan Carter's damaged Eagle.

After reading this, I watched this episode (frame by frame on the docking sequence) and there is no on-screen evidence of a specialised "Docking Eagle" in this episode. The Eagle used for the rescue is (surprise) a "Rescue Eagle" (Eagle 4), complete with red stripes. Its port side is seen several times, and it has no projections or visible docking tubes. It "docks" with its port side against Eagle 1's starboard side, and it can be clearly seen on-screen that there is no docking tube in place at the time of docking (it isn't explained how Koenig manages to get from one Eagle to the other without a helmet). From this, it looks like the reference to "Collision Course" should be removed.

It's also not clear whether an entry for a "Docking Eagle" is valid at all. Is a "Docking Eagle" ever mentioned on-screen? What is described as a "Docking Eagle" on at least one external web site (www.starshipmodeler.com) appears to be the "Booster Pod" that appears in "The Metamorph". One shot of this clearly shows that the "Booster Pod" has 6 large engine nozzles on its base, strongly suggesting that "boosting" is its primary function, rather than docking (screenshot from www.space1999.net's Eagle Guide). 86.7.22.39 (talk) 15:20, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I honestly don't recall seeing this in the series (my recollection is that the booster pods were also used for docking, just as you say), but here are photos, *also* from the Catacombs, that appear to show the extendable tube. The first instance seems different in both coloration and shape from the other instances pictured. Trivia: Use of an Eagle model in a TV spot in 2013[edit]

I suggest to update the page with a "Trivia" section, with the following contents:

An mostly white Eagle model with some minor black parts, obviously a child toy and about 30 cm long, with some light effects at the cockpit and the rockets, was used in a TV spot of "SEAT" automotive company, in 2013. The TV spot introduces a male child at the age of about 8-10 years, playing with a model of the Eagle, while then beeing more attracted by real car of his father. The car is also mostly painted white, with some minor black parts.
