Irony[edit]

It's odd that the very first sentence in an article about literature is a fragment. I'll fix it but if anyone has a better fix wants to improve my edit, feel free to do so. Wassermana42 (talk) 17:51, 26 September 2013 (UTC)AaronW[reply]

Baroque Literature[edit]

I removed the link to the Baroque literature page since that page has nothing to say on the subject and instead simply links back to this page. Baroque literature is different and separate from 17th century and early modern literature, however, and deserves its own Wikipedia page. Literary critical theorist Rene Wellek wrote an extensive article on the problem of defining Baroque literature titled "The Concept of the Baroque". Definitions and limiting boundaries for Baroque literature vary by 1) country (German, French, Italian, English and American), 2) era the definition was formulated in, and 3) the critic who creates a definition of the literature type. It is too simplistic to say all 17th century literature was Baroque. Much of it was early Classical or late Renaissance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DanQuigley (talkcontribs) 01:14, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
