Exact length[edit]

The current text of this article (along with many other places online) confidently states that the pier is precisely 1000 feet long, or 303 metres. Is this true, and if so can we have a solid reference to back it up?

Or is this a case of false precision, where "about 1000 feet" should actually have been converted to "about 300 metres". Even more suspiciously, 1000 feet ≠ 303 feet anyway: 1000 feet is closer to 305 metres, so 303 metres is only 994 feet.

Anyone have any idea where we might find a "definitive" measurement of the pier's length? - IMSoP (talk) 22:30, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

P + A Campbell[edit]

The links for the above are mostly dead. Doe anyone have one of the books so that we can provide in-line citations? BTW, I do recommend:-

as a wonderful tool for painlessly creating citations. Mikeo1938 (talk) 17:04, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Have found one but some more detail on the steamers would be nice. Mikeo1938 (talk) 17:23, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
