Salvation Jane the song[edit]

Information about the Feldon song Salvation Jane doesn't belong in this article. Can we look at creating a Salvation Jane (disambiguation) page? Donama (talk) 00:55, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Echium plantagineum in AustraliaPaterson's Curse in Australia – Patterson's Curse is the common name in Australia and an article of this nature should use the common name rather than the scientific name. The common name of Patterson's Curse, which is the common name in Australia, would be more widely recognisable than Echium plantagineum. See previous discussion at Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board/Archive 36#Patterson's Curse and Echium plantagineum. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 08:23, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure of the spelling? Reliable sources seem to prefer the single "t".[1][2][3] --AussieLegend (talk) 09:11, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I went on what is in the current article. The spelling is not consistent within the article and the first occurrence is double "t". I will fix it. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 09:31, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The scientific name gets more ghits in Books and Scholar. I'm more inclined to believe that the scientific name is the most commonly used name in reliable sources to refer to this species, thus I see no reason why this article about it in Australia would need to be titled any differently. • Oppose According to the Government of South Australia Animal and Plant Control Commission, the common name is "Salvation Jane."[4] With so many commonly used common names (and spellings), and one unambiguous scientific name, we stick with the scientific name. Also, the daughter article of the main plant article should use the same name: Echium plantagineum ----> Echium plantagineum in Australia. Finally, a quick Google Scholar search shows that the most reliable sources predominantly use the scientific name (though it also seems that the single "t," "Paterson's", is more common than the double "t"). • Comment But we should at least have a redirect? -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 20:44, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • That's what redirects are for... I see no problem with that. The issue would be inappropriate renaming. Rkitko (talk) 15:35, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
