Tim series[edit]

I've been reading the Tim books to my son, and noticed that Tim's Last Voyage (1972) is actually not the final Tim book - that honor goes to Ship's Cook Ginger (subtitled ("Another Tim Story"), published in 1977 (two years before Ardizzone's death).

This article calls the Tim series EA's best known work. Even if that means best known as author, which takes second place to some illustrations, the entire series should be identified.

Is Sarah and Simon and No Red Paint part of the Tim series? I guess not, so I have relocated that to its chronological place (while adding mention of Titus in Trouble illustrated 1959). --P64 (talk) 20:46, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Little Tim and the Brave Sea Captain[edit]

Oxford 1936, both U.S. and U.K. editions. I have included a reference link to the Library of Congress Catalog (while re-ordering most of section Career chronologically).

List of titles[edit]

I see that Phylactery07 has been adding many titles of works illustrated by EA to an already long list – a major task! Two thoughts:

all (or very nearly all) of those published up to about 1970 are listed in a booklet by Alderson, published as The Private Library, Summer 1972. I have that book, so if I could be of any help, just ask! It looks to me as if there are about fifty more to be added, plus a dozen or so miscellaneous items.
that will be a very long list once it is finished, and rather out of balance with the rest of the page; might it in the end be better to put the full listing in a stand-alone list page, and cover only the most significant titles in running text in the article?

That would be a great help, Justlettersandnumbers! I've been working from a set of reference books called "Something About the Author" edited by Anne Commire, and it's copyright 1971, but one of the things I'm finding is that certain copyright dates are different and also some of the author names that he illustrated for are incomplete and I have to go hunting elsewhere for more complete records. Perhaps there are differences between the two books, or works that were missed?

Also, yes, I agree that this is likely to be a very long list when it is done, especially since he was still publishing works after the book I'm working from was written, so it may be helpful to give it a stand-alone page, but I'm currently not all too sure how to do that just yet.

Phylactery07, if there are titles where you are in doubt about any detail, why don't you mention that here? I could then let you know what Alderson says. I also have a significant proportion (I hesitate to say "nearly all") of the actual books, so in many cases would be able to verify in that way too. For copyright dates I'd have thought that the catalogue of the British Library would be accurate in almost every case. Please let me know when I can be of help.
