Deputy-governor at 15?[edit]

Edward Misselden (1608–1654)... was deputy-governor of the Merchant Adventurers' Company at Delft from 1623 until 1633

That is, he got the position at 15 years of age. Is it correct? Was it normal at the time? How did he get the position?
