Untitled[edit]

This is my first article on Wikipedia. The article is about Effie Anderson Smith, a noted and listed Arizona Impressionist painter (she is listed on several art reference sites, including AskART.com) and in important art books, such as "Artists in California, 1786-1940" by E.M. Hughes (2002) and "An Encyclopedia of Women Artists of the American West" by P.& M.Y. Kovinick (1998), and "The Artists Bluebook" by L. Pierson (2005). I am in possession of her papers and some of her artworks. At one time she was referred to in contemporary press as "the Dean of Arizona Women Artists" but her reputation has fallen into relative obscurity. I intend to add biographical and historic information and photos of her life for informational and educational purposes. I have just started on this research project, and expect to add details here as I better learn the Wiki formatics and organize my materials. I see someone has questioned Mrs. Smith's notability. This seems well-documented to me, and this is a creditable effort, especially for a first article. Thanks for contributing it, and the nice photos that accompany your article. Cheers, Pete Tillman (talk) 05:24, 6 November 2011 (UTC), who once did an examination of the old mine.[reply]
