Egyptian Navy Ensign[edit]

I think there was a mistake in reverting back to the Egyptian Navy unofficial flag. I see you said that the one I made has no reliable resources. Have you checked the file description page? The ensign you reverted the page back to has no existence whatsoever in Egypt. It's completely made up. I added a link to an image where the 4 flags of the Egyptian Armed Forces are next to each other and you can see the navy flag. you can also google it or search for any other photo for an armed forces commander.

Also, I live in Alexandria, Egypt, the headquarters of the Egyptian Navy and I'm telling you that the blue flag is the only flag we have ever seen whether on the navy headquarters or any navy building or a ship.. This is the true and only Naval Ensign for Egypt.

here are some link for images and youtube video including the flag i spent hours making

None of the evidence listed is clear evidence for your contention that the image you made is the current Egyptian naval ensign. Of the evidence you listed, the only one that shows the whole flag is the video at 08:30. A reader might deduce that the flag might be the Egyptian naval ensign from that video. As for the other images, they show little bits of flags in the background, but do not support your contention.
This source is a flagmaker, who state that the flag was adopted as the Egyptian Naval ensign in 1972. You will notice that this is a clear unambiguous statement. It does not require inferences and guesswork by the reader. Please provide similarly unambiguous sources.--Toddy1 (talk) 08:32, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Indented line This here supports what I say. It's a website made by Hubert de Vries, a graduate in Social Antropology of the University of Amsterdam, and he has done a great job he even has the old logos and cap badges supported by references and again I can assure you that the blue one is the only ensign out there and I'll try to go to the headquarters and take photos with this ensign and send to you :D --Zo3a (talk) 09:13, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The hubert-herald.nl source that you just quoted supports the complete opposite of what you way. It shows the same flag as the flagmaker website shows - though it says that it was from 1984 not 1972.--Toddy1 (talk) 10:00, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you have now restored the correct Egyptian naval ensign, and put your image as the Egyptian naval flag; which I think is correct. It would be helpful if you renamed the image that you added to reflect its correct title.--Toddy1 (talk) 10:05, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I had to talk to a Navy officer and he clarified everything, the Egyptian Navy has a special custom with the Flags. The one added here as the ensign is the ensign raised on operational navy vessels only and the blue one is used as an On Land Navy flag, on the docked ships, and on the ceremonies as the it's hard to recognize at sea. Working on the file now.

Rewrite[edit]

The quality of the information on Wikipedia about the Egyptian has been, until very recently, poor to say the least. I, with the help of another editor, managed to overhaul the list of active Egyptian Navy ships article (which is probably what most readers come looking for) but the main article itself is still kind of patchy. I'm going to try and rewrite it in the style of the Israeli Navy (purely because its the nearest geographical navy that is wrote to a high standard), don't hesitate to help! Photos[edit]

I've just removed a bunch of photos which weren't of Egyptian Navy vessels and aircraft. I'm reluctant to use most of the photos of modern Egyptian ships on Commons, as they seem to have unclear copyright status - many were uploaded by someone claiming they were their own work, but the images lack the metadata which would be expected and look like professional shots stolen from other sources.
