1968 GOP Convention[edit]

The table is incorrect -- there was no second ballot. (There hasn't been a second ballot at any major party national convention since 1940.) Do the math and see that Richard Nixon was some 30 votes past a majority. The tally shown here was the various delegations switching their votes to the winner (which was customary) to show unanimity, although there were holdouts. Now, Rockefeller was hoping to force a second ballot, this error gives him too much credit. WHPratt (talk) 15:59, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the same error in terminology applies to the 1964 convention statistics here as well. Again, it was switching of votes within the first and only ballot. WHPratt (talk) 16:02, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
