Chatman edits

I'd like to expand this article, creating subheadings and explanatory paragraphs for the following and citing Chatman's works. (1.) Information Poverty; (2.) Life in Round; (3.) Those subheadings sound good to me. I'd be happy to work on some of them with you, if you'd like to work collaboratively. But in the interest of dividing and conquering to really make the article more broadly useful for research purposes, I could add a couple of other subheads, one a complete bibliography of Chatman's works (possibly annotated?), and the other a list of useful (academic?) external links. Bibliography

So I'm thinking there are too many bibliographic entries to annotate properly. Am going to stick with doing a complete biblio in chronological order and update the list of external links. Thoughts? Phyllisagain (talk) 02:15, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

I think I'm doing OK with the individual entries themselves, but if you have ideas on how to include accessible links to the various works I'd love to hear them. I'm guess I'm just not sure what's ultimately useful to link to and what isn't, given access issues and URL changes etc etc. Your Life in the Round section looks really good. One thought: I don't think you need to repeat the full source citation every time you refer to it. I think you're OK with "Chatman, p. x" after the initial complete citation, since it's the only document you're referring to in that section. Just wondering if cutting it down that way might make that bit seem a little more approachable, you know? Also, I noticed we used different citation styles (I used Chicago). Should we make them match? (I used to be a copy editor, so obsession with consistency is kind of an occupational hazard for me...) Phyllisagain (talk) 20:27, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure how to include links that would be reachable for people without access to our journal databases; I think your citations look great. I'm going to change my citation format to match yours, and switch to "Chatman, p. X" as suggested, as I'm not happy with the current format. (User:Michaelh.dick confirmed that "Ibid" is frowned upon in WP, but I hadn't thought of just giving a name and page - thank you.) Also, do you think that having only one article featured is more of a hindrance than a help to people wanting to use this site for a general understanding of Chatman's work? I'm just wondering how quickly I should work on getting additional articles done. re: citation style change, sounds good. I don't think just expanding upon Life in the Round is a hindrance--there's only so much you can do at once, to be honest. do you have time to add some of the rest?
