Notability[edit]

Is this person really noteworthy, i.e. would she still be deemed worthy of a page were she not the daughter of two noted comedians? --Bruiseviolet (talk) 03:37, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, she meets two criteria listed in Wikipedia's guidelines for music notability: she has been the subject of several non-trivial works published by independent sources and has undertaken a national concert tour. Nibblonians (talk) 19:04, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Several years later... and still no sign of notability. Could we add the "several non-trivial works published by independent sources" to the article ? Since when has Twitter been a reliable source? 82.22.169.139 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:26, 23 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This record needs to be removed, there is no sign of notability and no recent activity. This is a personal page which is unnecessary on Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.9.50.218 (talk) 22:41, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MySpace link[edit]

Please do not include links to social networking websites such as MySpace and Facebook. See the guidelines at WP:EL —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.113.95.101 (talk) 13:15, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • The link guidelines also clearly state the following right at the top in bold: "Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject". Nibblonians (talk) 13:34, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The article already has a (perfectly proper) link to Ella's official website but a MySpace site is not considered by Wikipedia to be an 'official' site. Never mind 'right at the top'; please have the patience to read the whole guidance at WP:EL. The point is made clear where it says that editors should not link ...to social networking sites (such as MySpace and Facebook), chat or discussion forums/groups (such as Yahoo! Groups), Twitter feeds, USENET newsgroups or e-mail lists.
Even if you argue you are within the 'letter of the law' you are not in the spirit - Wikipedia is not an advertising or publicity medium. Besides, the official page you link to has a link to Ella's MySpace so it's not sa if readers can't find her on MySpace. If you persist in reverting the article to include the MySpace link, it will be reported to Admins and reported on the Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard page as well.
I notice, BTW, that of your 160-odd edits, the Edmondson family (Ella, Ade and Jennifer Saunders) figures large and that the article Ella Edmondson was created by you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.114.107.96 (talk) 14:37, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're one to talk about the "spirit" of Wikipedia with your passive aggressive threats and everything. "I notice, BTW, that of your 160-odd edits, the Edmondson family (Ella, Ade and Jennifer Saunders) figures large and that the article Ella Edmondson was created by you." What is your point exactly? That I shouldn't edit pages that I am interested in? That I shouldn't keep pages free of vandalism and improve Wikipedia. Guess what: I reverted it the page so go ahead, report me. If you are going to start throwing the guidelines around then the guidelines will be followed. "Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject". Her MySpace is an official MySpace page, it is not a fansite.Nibblonians (talk) 15:14, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Coming back to this after a nice breakfast, I have managed to locate the illusive link to Edmondson's MySpace on her official website which I hadn't seen before. I bow to you on this one, 87.114.107.96.
That said, I think you should really look at arguments to avoid when conversing with other editors. The accusations, assumptions and threats during our discourse only put me on the defensive and I think it would benefit future discussions if you keep them in mind.
Happy editing. Nibblonians (talk) 17:22, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't being 'passive agressive' - I was merely being pompous and officious. OK, brother, let it be pax betwixt us because an edit war would be such a bore! And, on a plus note, the article (which I only came across while spamlink patrolling) has introduced me to Ella and her music. Yes, yes, via her MySpace ;) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.113.182.254 (talk) 19:36, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
