Colors[edit]

Generally, the vehicles will have fluorescent colors down the side, in the following color code:

  • Fire engines - yellow and red
  • Ambulances - yellow and green
  • Police cars - yellow and blue
  • Tow Trucks - yellow and red

Other "official" color codes include the yellow and black as used by the UK's vehicle standards organization, the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency.

this sounds its specific to the UK, as I'm unaware of any standards like that in the US. It seems like our vehicles vary quite a bit based on locations, and I don't recall seeing many police cars with yellow, or ambulances with green. Could someone who knows better than I do fix it? -Mairi 17:18, 11 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • That data is probably specific to a location. In fact since it relates to the articles that are already linked, why is it even here? It should be in the vehicle articles if its really needed. I'm going to look at it again after posting this comment and likely delete it from this article. Vegaswikian 22:29, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Equipment section[edit]

We really need a section here on equipment, and some general merging of information from the emergency vehicle equipment article, a much better and complete article. - Bennyboyz3000 03:28, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does police horses belong to EV?[edit]

No, they are not vehicles, they are animals. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 16:47, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Necessity of this article[edit]

I've overhauled this article for the time being, in order to give it some structure and a bit more detail, but it is mostly repetition from other articles, and as such, i'm not convinced this article even needs to exist on its own, but should be split between Emergency service and Emergency vehicle equipment (which could then be moved here). Any thoughts? Owain.davies 19:00, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Poor standard[edit]

"Some examples - - include" is extremely awful grammar. Why is Wikipedia utterly infested with this fetish with "include"? It is being massively over-used in almost every article! --88.194.238.107 (talk) 18:16, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
