Emirate of Dubai[edit]

I tidied this up so it's at least factual, but this virtual stublet is a wee mess. The salient information is already contained within the Dubai article but someone decided a few years back that each emirate needed an 'emirate of' article as well as the emirate articles and so we have these badly written, scant little articles that merely, for the most part, repeat what's already in the Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and so on articles. Dubai the city and emirate are referred to as such interchangeably (nobody in the Emirates ever talks about 'the Emirate of Dubai'), are a single jurisdiction and are seen as a whole. The history of Dubai and that of the Emirate are pretty much the same - and outside the global city of Dubai, we have the inland town of Hatta and a handful of villages such as Laisali, Lahbab and Awir. Ideally, these should all be redirects to the main articles, but that's going to mean someone putting in the legwork to conduct an RfC and then merge them all. Until then, this article is at least factually accurate as far as it goes - but if it is to stand, it needs a lot more of the information in the Dubai article ported to it. And the same for the other 6 emirates. Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 05:02, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Municipalities"[edit]

The infobox lists 9 municipalities in the emirate. The actual article only lists 4 municipalities. But more than that, there is no mention on the UAE that any such thing as municipalities exists as it relates to clearly definied areas with local government and administration. Can someone clean all of this up? Criticalthinker (talk) 06:46, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
