Editing[edit]

There is a lot of valuable and interesting material in this article. However, it needs a lot of editing, both for style and for content.

For style, I see no reason to include the original-language text (Greek and Bulgarian) in the article. Much of the article is written in the present tense, which is not right. The name Emmanouil Pappas is used anachronistically for periods before 1927. There are many redundant "testimonies of 19th century travellers" which should be condensed. Bibliographical information is redundantly written both in the main text and in the footnotes. The tone of some sections is peculiarly informal. There is much detail which doesn't add to the narrative (e.g., the names of all the members of the guerilla band).

For content, it is written in a highly partisan and unencyclopedic way, e.g., "The inhabitants of Emmanouil Pappas could not enjoy their freedom for a long time"; "The people of the village participated in all national struggles of modern Greek history." It includes much valuable and interesting material about the 1916 Bulgarian occupation which really belongs in the general article about the history of Greek Macedonia in general or, better, in its own article (Macedonian Front?).

There is a huge amount of important material here that needs to be included in Wikipedia. But I'm afraid that in its current form, and in its current place, it won't be useful to many readers. --Macrakis (talk) 01:56, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
