Deletion[edit]

I recommend this disambiguation page for deletion as there are only two items listed, and thus it is unnecessary. A search on Wikipedia for "Empty Threat" returns primarily Chvrches-related articles. Since there is an article specifically for the Chvrches song, and the only other item listed presents a link to an album in which a song by that name is presented in the track listing, this could easily be presented as an about or for template at the top of the Chvrches song article, which I will also recommend be renamed from Empty Threat (Chvrches song) to Empty Threat since there is no longer a need for the parenthetical disambiguation phrase. Thoughts? Matt18224 (talk) 02:04, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Matt18224. No need to delete this. Here's the procedure: move this page to Empty Threat (disambiguation), leaving a redirect at Empty Threat. Then tag the new redirect with {{db-move}}, which will label it for speedy deletion. An admin will delete it and move the page for you, if it's clearly uncontroversial. I think your argument that the disambiguation phrase is not needed is a good one.
After the move, fix the link on the initial sentence on the dab page (it should not be piped). I don't think any of the other articles listed here need a hatnote, but you'll need one at the song article. Cheers! — Gorthian (talk) 21:37, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Redirection Breaking[edit]

Steel1943, I'm not sure breaking the automatic redirection at Empty Threat is for the best until the db-move is resolved. Casual users searching for "Empty Threat" will be brought to a page completely unrelated to the content they were looking for with confusing information about page deletion. According to Template:Db-move/doc, #REDIRECT can be placed above or below the db-move, both are acceptable. Is there a particular reason you felt breaking the auto redirect was the best option here? • @Matt18224: ...Because in my opinion, speedy deletion tags should always "break the redirect" (also known as converting the redirect to a soft redirect) until the speedy deletion tag is answered and to allow easier navigation to the page for the tag to be answered. Anyways, I answered your tag. Steel1943 (talk) 03:31, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thanks. I have very little (read: zero) experience with page moves and speedy deletions, so it wasn't clear to me what the standard practice was here. I will of course defer to your judgment, and I now know what I should be doing if I ever need to do this again in the future. Thanks again! Matt18224 (talk) 12:50, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
