The result of the move request was: Not moved; the consensus is that the genus/insect is not the primary topic of "Emus". (non-admin closure) (t · c) buidhe 01:48, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

– logical mistake, because Emus is a redirect. Disambiguator qualifier "(genus)" is generally not allowed. It is possible that Emus to DAB? Related DAB is Emu Estopedist1 (talk) 06:49, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Since the redirect was converted back to a dab page, Emus titles a page with content and so it must also be dispositioned. If this request is granted, then Emus may be deleted or moved to Emus (disambiguation) and tagged with {{One other topic}} in accordance with WP:ONEOTHER. • Strong oppose per WP:PLURALPT "Emus" is the plural of "Emu" and Emu gets 45,989 views compared to only 43 for the genus, Google, Images and Books appear only to show Enu. I have restored the DAB, even if only 0.1% of people searched for Emu in the plural the genus wouldn't be primary by usage and Emu is also likely primary by long-term significance. Support this alternative. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 14:23, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@In ictu oculi: can you clarify your statement? It looks like you're saying you strongly oppose moving the page to Emus (beetle), which does not appear to be the proposal. Are you, in fact, suggesting that as an alternative proposal? BD2412 T 06:11, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose — Cannot redirect to an extremely common pluralization. I prefer to keep the situation as it was. Nikolaih☎️📖 21:45, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Move to Emus (insect) instead, and leave the redirect pointing to Emu. We do have WP:PLURALPT allowing for possibility that the plural form is about a different topic entirely, but Emus does not fulfill the criteria. I'm aware that "genus" is discouraged as a disambiguator, and for animals we should seek for a relatively specific one. I think that "(insect)" is more appropriate than "(beetle)" proposed by In ictu oculi, but I'm willing to accept that as well. No such user (talk) 08:12, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
