Criticisms[edit]

This project probably requires a criticism section. For example, I myself just decided to give this a go in a virtual machine.

There are a number of issues/flaws with engarde.

1. You cannot use it (change any settings) when installed until you have registered with GSDN and activated engarde

2. The root password is fixed and cannot be changed until you have registered and activated engarde (unless you login to the console and use passwd)

3. If the network configuration is incorrect then it requires a full re-installation to change those settings, because of 1. As in if you cannot connect to the internet then you cannot register/activate ergo you cannot change the network settings therefore full re-installation required.

I'm sure this project might be good, pity its registration required mechanism is of questionable intelligence.

An example, after trying to register this is the extremely vague error message given:

Input by user Benjamin Lopez: "Yeah, perhaps a criticisms section is warranted. If I knew that I wouldn't have wasted my bandwidth. I usually use Wiki to get an idea of what people think of some things. Movies, books, software, etc." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.90.66.207 (talk) 17:50, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would a criticism section really be valid for this page? We could list possible problems with using this system, but it doesn't seem substantial enough to warrant a separate section. U21980 (talk) 03:49, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
