Confusion between primary energy sources and energy carriers[edit]

In its current version, the article (referring only to the ISO definition) makes the confusion between a primary energy source and a energy carrier. Energy carriers (EC) and primary energy sources (PES) are different concepts. Energy systems transform Primary Energy Sources (oil, gas, coal, uranium, etc.) in order to "produce" (or generate) energy carriers (fossil fuels, process heat, mechanical energy, electricity, etc.) that provide certain services (or End Uses) to the society. Now, not all energy carriers are actually used by society. For instance, in the case of the nuclear power, this energy system generates process heat (an energy carrier) that only serves to make electricity (another EC). But in the current version of the article, PES are used to generate mechanical energy and so on (not EC). I will add a section as well as a diagram to avoid this confusion although I would prefer to totally reframe this article. Ledjazz (talk) 18:50, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
