Location[edit]

"On a large rubish tip of vessels, ships and boats, the engine room is located near the sky, and at the bottom, or aft, of the ocean, and usually comprises few compartments." This doesn't make any sense to me. If 'rubish' is a technical term it should be clarified or linked. 'Near the sky' seems to contradict 'at the bottom', and I'm not sure what 'aft of the ocean' means. Someone with more knowledge should clarify? -JasperBG (talk) 00:28, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Engine Room vs. Boiler Room vs. Fire Room[edit]

I think some differentiation is needed for the above terms. However, I am not completely sure of the differences (or synonymosity) myself. I would like to emphasize its inclusion in the article; not just an answer provided here. -Noha307 (talk) 22:43, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Fire room is now a separate article. It is inclusive of boiler room. Apparently these disappeared during the 1970s. Not sure exactly when or why. Student7 (talk) 11:48, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Engine control room missing[edit]

Abbreviation Engine control room on ECR redirects here but is never mentioned. I expected something like the German article Maschinenkontrollraum. Would someone likes to fix it? Otherwise I would...91.212.103.196 (talk) 14:55, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not easy to integrate these two articles. The German article is definitely written from a merchant ship/small ship pov. The English article from a larger ship/navy ship pov.
